Agents Lingers after ICE Raids 'Operation: Charlotte’s Web'

By: Alvin H. Green IV

The Trump Administration ordered immigration raids in Charlotte, North Carolina under the name ‘Operation: Charlotte’s Web’. More than 370  people were arrested over no more than two days according to WCNC, and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden said ICE Agents still remains in the area.

Businesses in Charlotte were forced to shutter their doors as ICE and Border Patrol agents launched a two-day siege on the city, similar to the ones ongoing in Chicago, LA, Huston, and other Democrat-led areas. The most recent of ICE’s raids was part of an ongoing effort by the Trump Administration to round up so-called ‘Illegal Immigrants’ and ‘Terrorists’, although the majority (72%) of people arrested in these raids have no criminal background whatsoever or were legal U.S. citizens, according to Fortune.

Applying that percentage to the 370 arrested in Charlotte, it’s likely almost 266 detainees were innocent of any wrongdoing.

In an Instagram post, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein said the ICE raids are not making their communities safer, but rather “...stoking fear and dividing our community.” He described ICE agents as groups of heavily-armed masked thugs who racially profile people and grab them at random off the sidewalk.

The legality of these ICE raids has been further questioned by the independent immigration court reporting site Tracreports. According to them, there have been over 500,00 new migrant cases since January, with only 1.59% of them based on alleged criminal activity.

“Actions like this should be illegal. Partially-trained, heavily armed thugs should not be allowed to attack and arrest random citizens without proper evidence and throw them into camps without trial,” said First Year Criminal Justice Major Brandon Brown. “This shouldn’t be a problem that we’re facing; this shouldn’t be a discussion we keep having to have.”

The Administration’s next major target is likely to be New Orleans, according to CBS. We will keep you updated as this story develops.
