'It Ends With Us' Director Faces Legal Backlash From Blake Lively

Blake Lively has brought fresh scrutiny to the set of the 2024 film It Ends With Us, revealing in a new court filing that multiple women raised concerns about actor and director Justin Baldoni. The concerns that emerged during the film’s production have contributed to ongoing legal disputes and sparked a broader conversation about workplace culture in Hollywood.

While specific allegations have not been publicly disclosed, Lively’s filing suggests a troubling environment for female crew members. The news comes on the heels of Lively’s recent criticism of The Hollywood Reporter for featuring Baldoni on a cover, despite the behind-the-scenes issues.

Taking to social media, Lively expressed disappointment, writing, “When narratives are built on ignoring the voices of women, it only perpetuates the problem. We have to do better.”  The controversy surrounding It Ends With Us comes at a critical time for the film industry, where the #MeToo movement has already prompted significant changes. Allegations of misconduct, particularly from individuals in leadership positions, continue to challenge Hollywood’s progress in creating safer and more respectful workplaces.

“I could see some small exception where they wouldn't, but based on what I have observed, it's almost guaranteed that he will file a counterclaim,” said legal expert Gregory Doll, per People.com

The situation has not only stirred reactions within the industry but has also caught the attention of audiences and students alike.

Maya Thompson, a second-year sociology major who watched It Ends With Us, said, “I loved the book and was so excited for the film, but hearing about these concerns is unsettling. It makes you think about how much goes on behind the scenes.”

Baldoni has yet to respond publicly to the allegations, but sources close to the production insist that the film’s release is still on track. However, industry insiders speculate that the controversy could impact its box office performance and overall reception.

The unfolding situation underscores the need for transparency and accountability in Hollywood. As the story develops, many are hoping for a balanced approach that considers all perspectives—those of the alleged victims, Baldoni’s defense, and the broader industry’s responsibility to foster a safe working environment.
