Normani Gets Engaged To NFL Boyfriend DeKaylin Metcalf

R&B singer and former member of girl group Fifth Harmony, Normani, gets engaged to her NFL star boyfriend DeKaylin Metcalf.  In a press conference discussing the wide receiver’s recent trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2025 NFL draft, Metcalf shared the news of his engagement to Normani. 

“Shout out to my beautiful fiancee for being here with me,” said Metcalf in a video posted to Instagram on March 13th. He continued by saying, “Hold that rock up baby.” 

In the two photos released to social media, the couple can be seen posing alongside a Steelers helmet, one of the photos catching a subtle glimpse at Normani’s engagement ring. 

“I’m so happy for them. Period, black love,” said Marie Williams, a third-year accounting major. 

Later on during the press conference, Metcalf told reporters how he proposed to Normani saying,  “My family and her were in Houston. It was my sister’s spring break and I just thought about getting the whole family together for a big Kumbaya and joining our families with a ring,” per MSN. 

Normani and Metcalf's three-year relationship began in 2022, with the public speculating about the two as far back as June of that year, after being spotted having dinner. It wasn't until July 2023 that Normani confirmed the couple’s relationship after she posted a photo to her Instagram story of Metcalf kissing her cheek. 

  “I love that Normani was private about their relationship until they were engaged. I think that adds to the excitement,” said Gabrielle Walker, a third-year English major. 

Both celebrities were introduced to each other through a different famous black couple, Ciara and Russel Wilson. Ciara has been long-time friends with Normani and Wilson, who played alongside Metcalf on the Seattle Seahawks, and invited both of them individually to Ciara’s party for her new rum brand. 

“I ended up going and lo and behold, he ended up being there, and the rest is history,” said Normnai during an interview with Vogue.

  In a recent interview with Vogue, Nomani shared her thoughts on walking down the aisle and what wedding dress she’d wear, as well as how she felt about a future with her husband-to-be. 

“I have found my dream man. There’s nobody that I would want to spend the rest of my life with and do life with. He’s literally my best friend, and I’m really grateful that we found each other.” said Nomani.
