The 2025 Grammy nominations are here, and fans are not pleased about nominees.
On Friday, Nov.8, 2024, the Recording Academy released their nominees for their upcoming 2025 ceremony.
Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Billie Ellish, Sabrina Carpenter, and many others have been nominated.
People across social media were delighted to see some of their favorite artists being nominated in the different categories.
“Seeing my favorite artists getting emotional about securing nominations and potential winnings always gets me,” said a social media user.
However, the announcements would also leave people not all too pleased about the nominees.
Taylor Swift would be one of the many artists that fans and social media users weren’t all too happy about being nominated for Album of the Year for her “Tortured Poets Department” album.
“Taylor Swift’s album was disliked by all even her own fans. There should be no reason that it receives nominations over other talented acts who put in twice as much work,” said one social media user.
Along with feeling that some artists didn’t deserve nominations in certain categories, some felt some artists, like Ariana Grande, were snubbed.
Grande’s album Eternal Sunshine was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Dance Pop Recording, but not for “Record of the Year” or “Album of the Year,” causing fans to be upset on social media.
“Ariana Grande is one of the few artists to write, produce, and deliver an emotional concept album and gets snubbed again. The Grammys are a joke!” said one fan on X.
With some fans feeling Grande was snubbed of album of the year and record of the year.
“The fact that Ariana Grande isn’t nominated for record of the year when We Can’t Be Friends has achieved in only eight months one billion streams on Spotify is insane. The Grammys aren’t what they were,” said one Instagram user.
“How does Eternal Sunshine, the only album this year with multiple #1 singles, miss out on album of the year? The Grammy’s remained rigged,” another fan shared on X.
While there were some fans who felt like the biggest snubs of them all were the ones who didn’t receive nominations.
“Tinashe was definitely snubbed, she had a viral song on TikTok and didn’t even receive a nomination,” said one social media user.
This would lead some fans to call out the legitimacy of the Grammys.
“I find it very unfair. The Grammy’s are becoming less and less relevant,” said an Instagram user.
The Grammys are set to air Feb. 2, 2025, so if people are upset at the nominations, who knows how they will feel about the wins.
