Rapper Gunna can now add “entrepreneur” to his repertoire after announcing the launch of his new record label “SB The Label”. The record label was launched on Friday, October 9 in partnership with Atlantic Records, per Billboard.

The rapper serves as CEO of the record label and has reportedly already signed artists like Casper Bluff, Dracc and Nechie who have all worked with him previously on his track “I Can’t Feel My Face” in 2025.

Robert Constant, a music audio production major at Hampton details how beneficial Gunna’s new label is to the music industry and to Black artists.

“I think Gunna’s new record label could make a big difference for up and coming Black artists because it gives us another opportunity to get our music heard and put ourselves out there,” said Constant. “After working at a record label this past summer, I got to see that there are a lot of talented Black artists that just don’t get the recognition they deserve so having someone like Gunna, a big name in the industry, could help us get more exposure and connections.”

Along with the announcement of the launch of his new record label, Gunna also released the music video for his new song “pop it” which will be a part of his next album titled Splurge. The music video features young American tennis star Coco Gauff.

In the video, the rapper appears to be returning a volley served by Gauff, which impresses her. The tennis court has a chandelier hanging above it and an elaborate carpet design replacing the typical grass or clay court that Gauff plays on.

The public responded well to the video, with the video having over 4.1 million views on Youtube and over 89,000 likes.

Carmen Coleman, a marketing major at Hampton University, detailed why she thinks audiences resonated with the video so much and why it was a good marketing strategy to include Coco Gauff in the video.

“I believe when people are able to connect and relate to their audience, a lot of times, promotional campaigns that align with what’s going on in the real world or popular trends tend to do better,” said Coleman. “So when you see something like this, when popular rappers are collaborating with influencers who have already established a name for themselves, in return, you’re reaching a new audience and fan base.”

Gunna is launching this new record label after the release of his sixth studio album titled The Last Wun, in August 2025. The LP debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and was his last release under YSL Records, according to Yahoo Entertainment.
