WHOV-TV brings you dedicated writers who publish original stories every Sunday evening. Writing two stories per week, the team covers topics ranging from politics and international news to entertainment, campus life, and local crime, keeping our audience informed and connected through timely digital reporting.
Olivia Armstead
A 2nd-year strategic communications major with an area of emphasis in marketing from West Orange, NJ. She is passionate about storytelling through many creative outlets, one of her favorites being writing. Liv loves to write stories about pop culture, Black excellence, music, and much more. When not writing articles, Liv loves to partake in many different hobbies like singing, dancing, drawing, reading, and creating content. She hopes you enjoy the articles she produces this academic year!

Brionna Gillis
I am a graduating senior, journalism major and political science minor from Baltimore, Maryland. Outside of WHOV-TV Digital Team, I am a part of Campus Plus. Contemporary Composers, NABJ, and the Digital Editors for the Title III newsletter, just to name a few. I also served as a writer for the Hampton Script. I enjoy reading, particularly romance and fantasy, writing, and listening to music. My enjoyment of writing comes from its form of being another way of self-expression. I don’t always articulate how I am feeling or what I am thinking in the way that I want to, so writing allows me to gather my thoughts and put them down on a page. Writing also allows me to relax and get out any negative thoughts that I have been harboring. I also enjoy writing because it allows me to share stories that people have never heard/seen before. My plan after graduating from Hampton is to become a writer for a newspaper or news station and eventually become an investigative reporter.

A First-Year Journalism major and Political Science minor from Chicago, IL. When he is not reading dystopian novels, writing his own, or living through one, Alvin enjoys going out with his friends to whatever place interests them that week. When he is at home, Alvin enjoys cooking and baking for his family and friends. He mostly writes about current events in the political and financial spheres, which he has found have a surprising amount of overlap. Alvin's ultimate goal is to come out of college making at least high-five/ low-six figures, work until he gets his books published, and then never hear the word 'work' again.
