No Kings Day Protest last Saturday

Last Saturday, March 28th, thousands of protesters took part in another No Kings Day demonstration.

Over 3,000 protests took place across the country last Friday in protest of President Donald Trump’s administration. Almost 7 million people participated in the protests nationwide, with a specific emphasis on the deportation and apprehension of immigrants. Since the Trump administration was inaugurated in 2025, they’ve committed to a heavier presence of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This has resulted in a multitude of controversies and national incidents regarding ICE.

“I’m seeing people from the PTA or the neighborhood who would have never joined a protest in the past, who are now asking how they can get involved. This is not some other people’s fight. This is our fight,” said Allison Posner, a mother from New Jersey.

Along with the uproar around ICE, many of the protests were centered around the current war in Iran that has been going on for over a month. The Trump administration claims that the war is nearing an end, but there are multiple reports with conflicting information. A lot of the protests addressed how the US has been inconsistent with the reasoning behind the war in Iran. Protesters called for peace across our nation and the world.

“Peaceful resistance is the antidote to repression. And it’s the antidote to the despair and powerlessness that repression is trying to make us feel,” said ACLU Chief Political and Advocacy Officer Deirdre Schifeling.

There’s no date on the next No Kings Day protest, but there was a large turnout for them last Saturday, and their voices were felt throughout the country and the world. The Trump administration, however, wasn’t very responsive to the protests.

“When you look at those people, those are not representative of the people of our country,” said President Trump.
