Once February rolls around, the month full of love approaches. It’s time to start Valentine’s Day preparations. The flowers, chocolates, stuffed animals, gifts, all flood the shelves.

But how are those people with no significant other supposed to spend their “day of love”?

“They say nothing lasts forever; dreams change, trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style,” said Carrie Bradshaw from the HBO TV series “Sex and The City.”

There is Galentine’s Day. A way to spend the brightest day with the ones who will be with you through better or for worse: your besties.

It’s the 21st century so Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples anymore. It’s now become a great day to spend with your best friends to show how much you love each other.

Galentine’s Day’s unofficial official date is Feb. 13, the day before Valentine’s Day. However, you can celebrate either day.

“Galentines has become such an important event for my friends and I that we celebrate every year, regardless of if we are all single or not; we make some time for us all to come together”, said Ananni Hayes of Cleveland.

Galentine’s day is a great way to relax and show the love you have for your friendships. So, the activities are unlimited and can be made personable to you.

So, what are some of the best ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day?

A great, traditional way to spend Galentine’s Day is dinner reservations. You and your friends should dress up, get picture ready, and go to a nice restaurant! This is one of the number one way to make your day full of love elevated.

“Last Galentine’s Day, my friends and I went to Saltine, an upscale restaurant in downtown Norfolk,” said Araya Hodge of Arizona, a Hampton U. marketing major. “It was so fun; we took great pictures and it’s a night I’ll always remember.”

But, what if leaving the house isn’t something you and your crew don’t want to do?

According to a Cosmopolitan magazine article, “Your Everything-to-Know Guide to Celebrating Galentine's Day in 2025,” “Galentine’s Day is pretty much a free for all. Host a glamorous dinner party, go out for brunch, have the girlies over for a chill wine and cheese night, exchange gifts, throw a girls-only rager, or book a spa day.”

Nothing is off the table when it comes to the planning. Get some balloons, make cute flyers, cook or order in, and have a fun-filled night. You can play games such as charades, heads-up, “For the Girls,” and even board games.

“I made a personalized cocktail list, a photo wall, and planned activities. I think it’s going to go great, and I’m really excited to host all of my friends,” said Kaelyn Covington of Columbus, Ohio. “I wanted to curate a romancy-love experience for my friends to substitute Valentine’s Day and show them they are loved by me.”

So, to all the singles out there or even the ones who don’t want to feel left out, Galentine’s Day is the way to go.
