Homecoming recap: 2025 pirate jam concert

Hampton University students enjoyed the Pirate Jam Homecoming concert this Wednesday. With Vickeelo, Skilla Baby, Zeddy Will, Cash Cobain, and K-Camp as headliners, the show was star-studded and full of energy.

Homecoming Week started with a bang with the Pirate Kickoff at Marine Point on Sunday. Students raved about the Blacker the Berry fashion show on Tuesday, but the anticipation surrounding the Pirate Jam was palpable.

The Pirate Jam came at the peak of Homecoming events and was also the freshman class’s first event post-curfew.

HU first-year Onesies Rose said, “Homecoming Week shows our school spirit and how hard everyone goes for Hampton... Especially with alumni being on campus. It feels like a reward after midterms.”

The Pirate Jam was hosted by Hampton student King, and Hampton artists Madison Williams and Jay Dimes were openers. Madi, who serves as Freshman Class Treasurer, shared what it was like to make her debut on stage as an opener for the Pirate Jam.

Madison Williams said, “At first, I was so nervous to perform in front of everyone. To be transparent, I’m very sensitive about my work, so I was apprehensive to feel everyone’s vibe. After I stepped on the stage, I felt such a relief that everyone had good energy and was so supportive…Hampton is the standard of excellence. Not only is that reflected in my character, but it is something I carry with me in my craft.”

The crowd was just as much a part of the show as the performers. The crowd sang along, waved lights, and danced from start to finish, matching the artists’ energy.

Events like these remind everyone that the Pirate Jam is more than just a concert but a celebration of Hampton pride and community. As the night ended, it was clear that the tradition continues to unite students and alumni through music and spirit.
