The Recording Academy handed out trophies to the biggest names in music at the 2026 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
This year’s competition was stiff with Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, and Bad Bunny leading the pack as nominees. Kendrick Lamar was the night's biggest winner with five wins, including Best Rap Album and Record of the Year becoming the most awarded rap artist in Grammy history. Bad Bunny also made history when he won Album of the Year for “Debi Tirar Mas Fotos (I Should Have Taken More Photos)” the first Spanish-language album to achieve the top honor.

“I think that Bad Bunny definitely deserved his win because his album was extremely heartfelt. I loved seeing the reception initially because a lot of people made edits of family members who they miss or have passed because of that song,” said Gabrielle Walker, a fourth-year English major.
Other winners of the night include Kendrick Lamar and Sza’s “Luther” for Record of the Year, Billie Eilish’s “Wildflower” for Song of the Year, Olivia Dean for Best New Artist, Leon Thomas’ “Mutt” for Best R&B Album, Kehlani’s “Folded” for Best R&B Song, and many more.
The Grammy’s this year wasn't just about the music, but also making political statements.
“I think that it was very nice that as people with such a huge influence on the country are making their opinions about how wrong things are and really kind of putting a spotlight on what’s happening,” said Jorda Prater, a fourth-year biology major.
During his speech for winning album of the year, Bad Bunny dedicated his win to “all the people who had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dream.” He made a more pointed anti-ICE statement earlier in the evening while accepting the Grammy for Best Musica Urbana album.
“We’re not savages, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans,” said Bad Bunny after deploying the phrase “ICE out,” per CNN
Billie Eilish also went on to make a political statement against Immigration and Customs enforcement which was partially bleeped out. Eilish seemed to say “F*** ICE,” and followed with, “That's it, sorry.” Both Eilish and her brother, Finneas O’Connell donned “ICE Out” pins, along with several other stars in attendance, including Carol King, Justin and Hailey Bieber.
